Art, music, creative movement, chorus, yoga,
theater, American Sign Language and French are integrated into the
curriculum at Mountain Road School. Musical concerts and a theater
production are annual events. This year we are proud that our annual
theater production, "The Fisherman and his Wife" was performed
at the Darrow school theater on May 16 &17. Past plays have
included Magic Planet, How Tall Were They?, Charlotte's Web, The
Fool of the World and the Flying Ship (all four written or adapted
by parents and students), Mary Poppins, The White Cat (created by
parents and students), The Phantom Tollbooth, Alice in Wonderland,
Peter Pan, and the Wizard of Oz, to name a few. Children and parents
are usually involved in all aspects of the production - from costume
and design to adaptation and performing.
"I am one of the luckiest teachers;
when the children see me they smile and cheer and say, 'Yea,
it's art day today!'"
Art Teacher
"This (Peter Pan) is the best
school production I have ever seen - at any level - and I have
seen many, many."
