Aimée JohnsonSecond-Third Grade TeacherAimée Brodeur Johnson is the teacher
of the 2nd/3rd/4th grade class. Working with children has been a keynote
of Aimée's life from the time she assisted in a first grade class as
an eighth grader herself. She began working at Mountain Road School
in the fall of 1988 as the 3rd/4th/5th-grade teacher and continued in
that position until the birth of her son, Kyle, in the spring of 1996.
She took off the next school year to be at home with Kyle. In the fall
of 1997 she began assisting part-time in the 3rd/4th/5th math classes
as well as being invited to join the newly formed Board of Directors,
and eventually took over as the teacher of the 3rd grade math group.
In the spring of 2000, when the school's administration changed to a
Teacher Collaborative, she became the Directing Teacher of Mountain
Road School. She held this position for the next three years, while
continuing to teach 3rd grade math. When another teacher rotated into
the position of Directing Teacher in the fall of 2003, she returned
to her first love-being a classroom teacher.
Aimée graduated cum laude from Mount Holyoke College and holds a teaching certificate in elementary education. She has worked professionally in the field of education since 1977. As a member of the Teacher Collaborative at Mountain Road School, she places strong emphasis on building a community of teachers, students and parents. Mountain Road School and its philosophy of "heartfelt education" deeply resonate with her beliefs in a child-centered and spiritually based education. Aimée, her husband Don, and son Kyle live
in the Abode of the Message community. Kyle has been at Mountain
Road School since preschool. Her husband is a special education
teacher in the Berlin Central School District. Together they enjoy
gardening, camping, swimming, hiking, cross country skiing, reading,
and their pets. |
